2016: The Year of Rose Quartz and Serenity
Check out the colors of year, and how you can incorportate them into your home

Decorating enthusiasts have 2 new choices for designing this year: Rose Quartz and Serenity – Pantone’s colors of the year for 2016. This was the first year that Pantone choose 2 colors. Pantone’s decision was “a symbolic color selection,” the company says, “a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.”

Freshome.com highlights several ways consumers can incorporate these 2 unique colors into a home. “Since both Rose Quartz and Serenity are bold enough to stand on their own, they pop when put against neutrals, especially whites and grays. They also pair well with midtone shades of greens, browns, and yellow,” according to the website.

Serenity reflects the blue sky, bringing a relaxing feeling to an environment. Rose Quartz, on the other hand, represents more of nature vibe.

Here are 5 ways to use these colors:

  • Walls: use Serenity as a calming effect in a room, such as bedroom or home office
  • Furniture: here you can use Rose Quartz in statement pieces of furniture, like a sofa or on dining chairs, making it a focal point of the room
  • Textiles: go small with Serenity by adding a blanket, rug or pillows in this shade
  • Wall Accents: here you can use Rose Quartz to add a splash of color to an accent wall
  • Mix & Match: one of the main reasons why Rose Quartz and Serenity were put together as a pair is that they create a bold and exciting contrast that will liven up any space. True to their goal, the shades Pantone chose certainly are an expressive pair.
