Mix “Marsala” Into Your Outdoor Living Space!
Pantone selects Marsala as their 2015 color of the year.
Every year, Pantone – a world-renowned authority on color – picks their choice for “color of the year.” For 2015, they chose the color Marsala as this years’ go-to choice of color. Described by Pantone as an “earthy red-brown hue, and much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful color embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”
In addition, according to Pantone, “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, design, and home furnishings.” It’s easy to add elegance to any room by incorporating a rich and welcoming color in accent pieces, accessories and paint. Marsala’s plush characteristics are intensified when the color is applied to textured surfaces, making it an ideal choice for rugs, accessories, and upholstered living room furniture.
But what about an outdoor environment? How can you incorporate Marsala into your front porch, or your fenced in backyard living space? Try painting some inexpensive clay pots with the vibrant color and setting them around your deck, patio or porch. Add an outdoor rug, tableware and linens, candles, or seat and couch cushions in the Marsala hue. Choose vivid earthy colors and add Marsala colored flowers to pots and vases. String some outdoor lights over your deck, fence, or rail in the color. Or even add paintings to your area that feature and highlight the color.
“Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth,” according to the color experts at Pantone.
